  • 'Tropic Sun' Sunn Hemp 'Tropic Sun' Sunn Hemp
'Tropic Sun' sunn hemp was developed at the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the University of Hawaii College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) as a cooperative cultivar release in 1983. 'Tropic Sun' is highly prized as a fast growing green manure crop for soil improvement. It will add up to 147lbs of nitrogen per acre, up to 2 tons of organic matter, and can greatly reduce plant parasitic nematode populations in a crop rotation system. It is also an excellent cover crop for controlling erosion, suppressing weeds, conserving soil moisture, improving the infiltration of water, delivering a slow release of nutrients, and is non-toxic to animals. 'Tropic Sun's' qualities as a green manure are unmatched and would be ideal for any sized farm or garden. Price breaks at 6-49 lbs and 50 lbs or more.
